Description:
The Northeast Wisconsin Native American Cultural
Tour offers travelers the opportunity to visit four reservations in
Northeastern Wisconsin to learn about and experience the distinct native
cultures of the Oneida Nation, Menominee Nation, Stockbridge-Munsee Band
of Mohicans, and the Forest County Potawatomi. Tours include
traditional foods, historical reenactments, the chance to interact with
tribal elders and members, and the opportunity to
visit museums and attend cultural events - including pow wows.

The tour includes transportation, guides, meals and
five nights of lodging on the four reservations. Tour dates for the
2002 season run from June to early November.

The tour demonstrates a broad collaboration of both
Indian and non-Indian communities and community-based participation in
cultural preservation and economic development.
Tours can be booked through the Green Bay CVB, and
tours begin and end in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Call for rates and

Alaska Native Heritage Center

Description:
The Alaska Native Heritage Center offers a center
where visitors can view and experience Alaska’s many diverse indigenous
cultures in one location. The Center provides public programs in both
academic and informal settings, including workshops, performances,
demonstrations and guided tours of indoor exhibits and outdoor village
sites.

Visitors are introduced to Native traditions and
customs of both the past and present. The Welcome House if a
celebration of contemporary Alaska Native cultures while the outdoor
facilities and sites allow the exploration of ancient tradition and
presentation of stories from the past. Included in the daily schedule
are storytelling, dance, tours, games and food service.
The theme program for the summer of 2002 is
entitled, “Our Healing Ways – Mind, Body & Spirit.” The program
explores how traditional knowledge helped Alaska’s Native people achieve
a healthy harmony of mind, body and spirit. The human and cultural
consequences of introduced diseases, and the revival of traditional
healing will be explored.
The Alaska Native Heritage Center promotes
self-esteem and pride among Alaska Natives. The Center works to improve
understanding among all Alaskans and encourages appreciation of Alaska
Native people and their traditions, history and contributions to Alaska.

Admission to the Center is free to members, with admission fees for all
others. The Center is open daily. Call for details.

White Mountain Apache Wildlife & Outdoor Recreation

Description:
The White Mountain Apache Tribe inhabits over 1.6
million acres of their ancestral homelands in east central Arizona.
Their reservation offers a diverse array of natural bounty, rich with
forests, lakes, wildlife and recreational opportunities.
Some of the recreation and tourism activities
support on tribal lands are cultural events, camping, hiking, fishing,
picnicking, boating, hunting, river running and canyoneering. A unique
rent-a-lake program offers two of the Tribe’s most scenic and secluded
lakes for exclusive camping and fishing. The reservation is home to
historic Fort Apache, which houses the Apache Cultural Center.
The
Tribe has additional recreation and tourism amenities, including the
Hon-Dah Resort, Casino and Conference Center, Hon-Dah Ski and Outdoor
Sport Shop, Sunrise Park Ski Resort and the White Mountain Apache Fair
and Rodeo.
The Wildlife & Outdoor Recreation Division of the
White Mountain Apache Tribe possesses a recreation and tourism
enterprise that is a model for economic and environmental sustainability
resource management in the global tourism industry.

The Birdsong Inn, Guest House and Writing

Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe.

in the attractive landscapes of the property, creating a sense of
